Members interested in volunteering time as a coach are encouraged to complete the appropriate application and submit to the PHA for consideration. Applications for both Hockey School and House League are available in the off-season and will remain open until all positions have been filled. Select/Rep League applications are available to interested parties in January. Submission deadline is mid-February with interviews conducted shortly afterwards to prepare for Spring Tryouts. The balance of the team staff is selected by the Head Coach once the players roster has been selected. If you are interested in an Assistant, Trainer or Manager role with a team you should make your intentions known to the Head Coach during the tryout period.

As a coach you are a representative of the PHA and are expected to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with that responsibility, both on and off the ice. You are also expected to display good sportsmanship and at all times act in a manner that is consistent with supporting the values of the PHA.

All coaches must comply with Hockey Canada, OHL, and OMHA risk management requirements or other regulations as stipulated from time to time by those associations or by the PHA. At this time there are two key risk management requirements:
1) The PHA's policy on Safety and Risk Management requires that ALL coaches, assistant coaches, trainers or volunteers wear a C.S.A. approved helmet during all on-ice activities.
2) Hockey Canada, as of December 31, 2001, requires all coaches must have completed the “Speak Out” anti harassment and abuse training program.

Based on OMHA regulations all teams MUST have an OMHA approved roster. This requires all staff to be certified with the appropriate coaching or trainers certification as outlined by the OMHA.

Prior to the start of the season all Team Officials must also submit a Police Record Check (PRC) to the PHA. No Team Official will be allowed on ice unless the PRC has been submitted. Failure to provide the PRC prior to the start of the season will immediately terminate your official position with the team and the PHA.
